I'd like to tell you a little bit about my dad. Like most dads, mine was amazing! He lost his hearing when he was 2 years old and he met my mom at the School for the Deaf in Illinois. He wasn't the best student in school but he could fix and build just about anything. He was a self-taught, very skilled mechanic. He depended on his 'feel' to know if an engine was running right or not. He often would hold a screwdriver to the motor and 'feel' if it was running correctly and many other mechanics depended on his expertise. Nothing would stop him! He was incredibly kind and would help anyone who needed it even though we didn't have a lot of money. He had a jovial laugh and was usually very happy! He loved to give hugs and didn't know a stranger. He inspires me everyday to be a better person. I know that I get my love for "building" jewelry from him. I miss him terribly but carry him in my heart. If you are lucky enough to still have your Dad around, be sure to celebrate with him on Father's Day!
