Think outside the Cat Box!!

I recently partipated in my local gallery's January show called "Herding Cats". Every few months, Independence Gallery, picks a theme for that month. Cats, while I have one named "Pearl" and I do love cats, making cat jewelry is definitely not my thing. However, I have come to realize that pushing my limits to make jewelry outside of my normal line is a very good exercise. It forced me to think outside the "cat" box. At first, I was frustrated and decided to give up but I made myself persevere and I'm so glad that I did. I actually enjoyed the whole experience (after it was over) and was very pleased with my cat pendant which I named "Pearl". It sold immediately and several people recommended that I make MORE! Well, I haven't decided to add a new category to my current jewelry line but who knows, maybe I will make more. So, the moral of this blog is to try things that you aren't comfortable doing and test your creative limits. You might really be surprised!!
